Caron Todd, PhD is co-founder and principal of New Solutions, Inc. established in November of 1984 and co-founder and member of Beacon Health Informatics, LLC established in January 2002. Dr. Todd has primary responsibility for market research and computer applications to which she brings over 20 years in the study of health care.

Prior to formation of New Solutions, Dr. Todd provided direction for the market/research computer services division of a leading health care consulting firm. Dr. Todd also served as Director of Health Administration Studies, Department of Urban Planning, Rutgers University. Previously, on behalf of the Columbia University Faculty of Medicine, she was assigned to Harlem Hospital Center's Department of Patient Care and Program Evaluation, where she applied epidemiological methods in computerized measurement of the health status of patients served by various programs; assessed the health care needs of the community; evaluated the quality and effectiveness of special programs based upon specific measures of outcome as well as attitudes of community residents toward actual delivery of care; and determined the effectiveness of computerized medical records as evaluation and management tools in medical research. She has done research in such services as acute and tertiary care, ambulatory medicine, rehabilitation and long term care, and mental healthcare delivery. Dr. Todd has participated in a variety of special studies, including manpower productivity in the field of neurology; psychological and socio-demographic variables contributing to the utilization of abortion facilities; and cost-benefit analysis of hypertension programs among the black population in Harlem. She holds a bachelor's degree from San Diego State College; a master's degree from Rutgers University and a Ph.D. from Columbia University, Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, Division of Sociomedical Sciences. Her dissertation was a study of the effect of ethnicity on morbidity patterns. She coauthored a paper on the impact of accessibility and population on the use of the New York City hospital system, and has published articles in Occupational Health Nursing, Social Science and Medicine, and Men in Medicine. She has also taught courses on the use of computers in the delivery of health care. She is a member of the American Management Association, the American Public Health Association and the American Marketing Association.
